Kalanar - Warlock (or my shaman if you prefer)

Postby Kalanar » Thu Dec 24, 2009 8:01 pm

1 - What is the name of your character?

Kalanar

2 - Has your character always had this name? If not, explain why.

Yup

3 - What is your character's class?

Warlock

4 - What is your total time played with this character and what is your time played with this character at your current level?

Total time played 29 days 7 hours
At level 80 - 9 days 19 hours

5 - Do you want to apply for a raiding spot or a social spot?

Raiding spot ideally :)

6 - What is your character's primairy talent spec? (in numbers, example 2/48/11) Why did you choose this spec?

56/0/15 affliction spec - I prefer affliction as a warlock spec mainly because its how I see warlocks primarily, but also because I like the challenge of managing dots and drains and filler spells, and the amusement I get from having virtually unlimited sustained dps with lifetap and Haunt :P

7 - What kind of experience do you have with other talent specs on this character?

I've tried all three specs on this character - my secondary spec is a 3/14/54 destro spec I'm using for heroics, since bosses there die too fast for aff to ramp up properly at the moment.

8 - Please link your armorypage url (with your primairy item kit if possible)

http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet ... &n=Kalanar

9 - Why do you use this item kit?

Mainly because I'm upgrading using badge gear, and I'm currently aiming for a gear set thats useful for both specs, so am trying to balance haste, crit, spellpower and spirit.

10 - Which of the items you use have the highest priority to be replaced and with what?

Probably the ring of northern winds and the cowl of the dire troll, both with triumph badge gear unless something better presents itself, although the head piece could go either way - the hood of fiery aftermath has the +hit, but if I decide I dont need it, the hood of calming tides has a large chunk of spirit which would help with lifetap and its glyph, as well as fel armour.

11 - Do you have any other items/kits that might be useful?

Nope

12 - What kind of guild do you think AG Praetorian Guard is?

A raiding guild that doesnt worry too much about being the absolute world first on anything, but enjoys progressing steadily through content whilst having fun - at least, thats the impression I've picked up from the few times I've been pressganged into service by a certain Druid when you were short a shaman :P

13 - Describe the role of your class/spec in raids and its mechanics. Be as precise as you can. Show us you know your class inside-out. (example: spelldamage coeffcients, need of particular stats or attributes)

Role - dps, whilst avoiding stressing the healers by not catching unneccessary damage (I.e no standing in fires, void zones, whatever). Certainly affliction wise, this is done by maximising uptime of debuffs and DoT spells, keepinh Haunt and shadow embrace stacks up at all times, and at <25% using drain soul as an execute style move, although it does have to be broken between ticks to refresh DoTs as and when required. Also, depending on spec particulars, shadowbolts may still need to be periodially cast to keep up the improved shadowbolt debuff, assuming the fire mages haven specced into improved scorch, anyway!

14 - How do you prepare for raids?

By getting a cup of tea and sitting at the computer :P I also make sure that my character is fully repaired, has his flasks, pots and food, and occasionally will carry spares in case they're required - also, specifically for this character, by making sure I have lots of soul shards - its not an issue as much as it used to be, but still, habits die hard :P

15 - What is your raiding experience in Azeroth, Outland and Northrend?

Azeroth - None, I hit 60 on my first character just before burning crusade.
Outland - Again, none, although that was more due to final exams that kinda took priority, since they determined the course of my life from then on :P
Northrend - across several characters, I've cleared Naxx, Sarth (although not with drakes up) and the first half of Ulduar - not a great deal, I know, but I'm a quick learner :P

16 - Why do you want to get into AG Praetorian Guard?

Because I'd like to see some end-game content - the guild I'm currently in, whilst full of my rl friends, isn't likely to be able to give me that aside from the odd alt run when the main 10 group is finished, and thats not really how I want to see stuff - I'd rather be there when its still tricky rather than just zerging everything down - its not a fun when it isn't a challenge, after all :P

17 - Why would we want you in AG Praetorian Guard?

Because I'm just so damn witty? :P Seriously, I'm a quick learner, I very rarely make the same mistake twice, and about the only time I get angry is at myself when I do something stupid. I always try and better myself, and I despise letting other people down. Oh, and also, my luck with rolling for drops is notoriously bad, so with me in the raid, your chances to get the loot you want go up!

18 - On which days of the week are you able to attend raids?

I can attend the regular raid days on Sunday and Tuesday - Thursday I have a band practice, so barring cancellations, thats generally out. Aside from that, most days are free, with the execption of Wednesdays (thats roleplaying night) and the odd weekend when I feel the need to be sociable :)

19 - We use TeamSpeak during our raids. Are you familiar with TS or Ventrillo and do you actually use it? (Talking aswell as listening)

I have vent installed on my computer and know how to use it - TS would just be a case of installing a different programme. I do have the occasional issue with my microphone actually working, but I can always listen!

20 - Which other guilds have you been in in the past?

Conclave of Shadows
Esoteric Church of Dagon

21 - What are your alternate characters? (please add class, spec and level)

Phearos - Shaman, 80, resto (secondary spec enhancement)
Kaelos - Death knight, 80, frost tanking (unholy dps)
Mallenor- Priest, 75, Disc (shadow)
Many alts below 30 - I get bored :P

22 - Which of your alts would you be willing to make your main in AG Praetorian Guard, in case we can only offer that particular class/spec a raiding spot and not the one your applying with? Also mention if you are willing to respec yes or no and with which character.
Either Kalanar or Phearos - as I understand it you don't need any Deathknights anywya, so I only included mine out of a sense of completeness

23 - Did you level all your characters from the start yourself?

Yup - I'm a little masochistic like that

24 - What is your real life age?

A mighty 30 years old

25 - OPTIONAL; Any other info you want to share with us concerning your application or yourself?

Nothing that I can think of off the top of my head, nope!
Thanks for considering me :)

i really recognise your priests name.. and i am 100% sure it is for good reasons.. but am really struggling to remember where our paths may have crossed previously.

Nice application however, good luck.

Hi Kalanar,

Sorry for the late response, several people have been away over the holiday period. We would like to see you in action before coming to a decision, would you be able to attend a raid on Thursday (7th January) at 20:00?

If you can make it we'll probably clear Totc25 before heading to ICC25 so keep unsaved for both destinations please.

Hi there, no worries about the response time - I was well aware it was christmas when I made the thread, so didnt expect any reply till now at the earliest anyway.
Unfortunately, thursdays are practically impossibly for me to get on WoW untill 10pm at the earliest - I mentioned in my original post that I have something on most thursday evenings, and this week is no exception, I'm afraid. Sorry about that :(

20:00 server time (19:00 UK time)

We're still waiting on some opinions on which character we'd prefer but a quick question: How would you feel becoming a raider on your shaman? Do you really prefer to play your warlock or do you not mind?

Kalanar

To be honest, I have no particular preference - I only applied with the warlock because that was what I noticed you were looking for :D

Excellent. Could you please make an account on our raidplanner and sign for sunday? We'll take the toon we need most, and next time the other one if you don't mind.

No problem.
Although, quick question - where IS your raid planner? Found something online, but that looks to be an old one - I assume you're using something in-game?

*Edit* - have found the raid planner (Cheers, Vix!), but apparently need a secret AGPG key to register....

Hi Kalanar,

We've decided to invite you, welcome onboard!

We will have to have a chat in the near future which toon should be your main, but that shouldn't delay you joining our ranks.

Poke any officer for an invite ;)
