Adso - application from a lone dwarf

Postby Adso » Wed Jan 28, 2009 11:07 am

Hello everyone, I'm willing to apply for membership in your guild. Some of you already know me. We have done some heroic runs, and last Naxx 10. For those who never met me, and to those of You who are willing to know me better, I present my aplication sheet. I hope it fulfills your expectations, and You will process my claim possitively.

Character name - Adso
Always have been using this name.

Class - Priest

Race - Dwarf
/played time – 34 days, 2 hours, 37 minutes, 38 seconds of my life.
/played this level – 2 days, 17 hours, 43 minutes, 19 seconds.

Social or raiding spot
Applying for both social and raiding reasons. I can’t imagine good fun in raiding without socializing with other participants.

Specialization-
I am a holy priest (14/57/0). I’ve always been. In fact I started this game long time ago as holy specialized priest, continued it till level 60. I turned to discipline for Battleground reasons for some time, but then I come back to my world. In the last two months I was using shadow spec (17/0/54) a little, however it was mainly for power leveling reasons. Now I am back to holy. I heal people, I am what I am.

Gear
I started gathering my gear about two weeks ago, so it might not be that impressive, however I personally believe it is not that bad. Main goals when choosing the equipment ware two factors, meaning SP (spell power), and CR (critical rating). That’s mainly because I really like a new features given by the Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King. It opens a possibility of building a healer based on critical rating, so far it works fine by me.
Item replacement –
In matter of item replacement I hope to switch my blues to epics as soon as it will be possible, head, shoulders, and neck are the priority. As soon as it will be possible I will gather my T7. In the meanwhile probably collect some PvP items, but this is not the priority.

Other items
I have one part PvP set, loads of herbs and ability to create almost every useful potion. As well I am a proud owner of Benediction / Anathema. I also poses a white mechanostrider which is my pride and favorite mount in Azeroth ! My dream was always to create Ateish, nevertheless I never have chance to do it. I quit the game short after it showed up.

Guild image
I believe you are people of different individualities. Each of you is different, abut you all have the common goal – to have fun out of playing the game. That’s good, but you have something more, you have common ways of fulfilling this goal. You raid together and act as one in combats, you overcome the greatest challenges in game, but in all this you don’t stop being humans, and find some time to mess around, spend have fun in other ways than pure raiding / PvP. You remind me of my post experiences with good guilds, clans. In short words, I think you are both very positive attitude wise, and ambitious in-game.

My image of Holy Priest
I heal people, I did it for my entire in-game life. I did it in various conditions, from the easiest to most exhausting. But, what is important priest is not only a class which restores life of the MT. I ‘m not only a healbot , who sits with a pack of snacks and presses ‘2’ time after time. When we are speaking of holy healing, the idea is to create most critical hits at lowest mana cost. Using Prayer of Mending (PoM), Circle of Healing (CoH), Inner Focus (IF) helps a lot. Scoring a critical hit triggers Holy Consecration, and Surge of light. Those two makes your healing less mana consuming, and improves your reaction time (30% haste rating, or instant cast Flash Heal (FH) is a good thing). It also makes life less mana consuming, clear casting state on Greater Heal (GH)is a wonderful thing. I love when I cast GH with IF, it hits critically, then I one another GH, with 30% haste. Those two usually gives tank a full health, for no mana cost, in just a couple of seconds. What is more hitting critical increases it’s armor by 25%, giving some damage reduction as well. Being a good healer is also a matter of choice. Often you have to chose who will stay alive and who will die. It just happens, there are numerous situations which causes that. That moments are the true time showing how healer is worth. He has to decide, in a blink of eye, which spell to cast (GH, or FH, maybe PoH), on whom, and what to next. Being a good healer is not about the parameters, it is about choice, and skill to make good decisions.
That was the main role in the raid. However it often happens that a priest is asked for additional things to be done, like Mind Control (personal favorite, loved throwing the orcs into the abyss in UBRS), Shackle Undead, Remove Disease. Those are the things which makes game more fun, because they are easy to perform, and brings more variety into the play.
I could talk hours about strategies of healing for both WoTLK, and Vanilla WoW. I was doing it for hell long time. I’m really experienced player, and I’ve proven myself in some really hard combats.

Raid preparation
It is very dependent on the raid. I always read the strategies for certain bosses, using many web pages. Then I talk to people and exchange what we have read, I do make suggestions. If raid requires any special equipment I get it before, if it requires potions I brew them. I help the ones who are not able to fulfill the requirements by themselves, remembering the days when I was unable to do it on my own. Generally I try to be as active as I can be before the raid. But in the moment I enter the raiding instance I obey the commands. From this moment until I leave Raid Leader is the Boss. I don’t argue, I don’t ‘suggest’. From entrance until portal I obey the commands even if I don’t agree with them. I do my job, I do my part. When raid leader says: “Jump” I ask: “How high ?”.

Raiding experiences:
Vanilla WoW – All the common instances (5, 10 and 15 man), plus: Molten Core, Onyxia, Zul’ Gurub, AQ20 & 40, BWL. I quitted before I was able to enter Naxxaramas.
Wrath of the Lich King – All heroic dungeons, which concerns raids: Archavon the Stone Watcher, Chamber of Aspects, and Naxxaramas 10, looking forward new experiences.

What can I give to you ? -
I’m willing to give you a good guildmate, a good friend, and a good healer.

Availability for raids.
At the moment I’m available all the week, but my time schedule is flexible. I can adjust to the raiding days, soon I will be given a new university schedule which will determinate my activity in some part.
Vantrillo and Teamspeak. -
Familiar and able to use them both. Have team speak installed. Just not having mic. Hate this device, nevertheless goanna buy it soon.

Past guilds.
Dudes of Destruction.

Alternative characters.
Soter – 34 level rouge
I play on Adso 99% of my time. I’m a healer, that my life. If it will be necessary I’m able to respect to Discipline or Shadow. All of my characters ware 100% leveled by myself.
My real life age is 22.

In the end I wish to greet all former Dudes of Destruction member whom I meet in AGPG. Especially Alneis, who is a friend of mine from the Real life.

Bloody hell, you've written nearly as long application as me back in a day ;o

As most of people know already, Adso is close RL friend of mine: I could vouch for him in many ways. Great fellow overall, and (relatively) quick learner.

Oh, and one more thing.

And a little hello from one former Dude to another(though I think I left before you joined )

It was other way around Em :) Adso had already quited the game when you joined DoD, or around that time (yes, he's that old relict of the past).

The first time I met Adso was when Al invited me into the party and these 2 were spouting polish all over the place (and I don't me for the floor either).
