Well IQ is not that meaningful when you test it when you have reach physical maturity.

IQ is Reading Age/Physical Age, the tests attempt to measure your Reading Age, which is bascally your ability to comprehend things.

When I was 10, about the right age for such tests I am told, my IQ was measured at 178.
Because they thought I may have been coached on the test they made me do 2 more, one of which was put together by the evaluation team the day before I took it.
I actually scored higher on that one that I did on the others, 184.
They decided to use the lowest score I got, the first one.

Note: this is on the new scale, the one used today. The old scale was, at least that is what they told my parents, unable to give me a mark.

Anyway, having a high IQ is nothing particularly special :)

107 is still a bit much for a meatshield, cousin. Perhaps do it again and this time do it right and get most answers wrong please.

I made several tests about my IQ during my years. Even went to MENSA official testing ( they arrange one official testing per year in my country ).
My results were allways around 130. It's a bit above average. I think average IQ is between 95 and 110.

I got a 120 IQ from that site. But I have been tested at 130 before, and at the end of junior school they thought I was even higher

Hope this doesn't mean I will end up somewhere at 80 when I reach the age of 40

P.S. Why are we having this increddibly interesting discussion again in a recruitement topic

Because the applicant brought up IQ, and Leafy read it.

Valgarv, we should be grateful for clarification of a couple of points.

(1) You say that you have 300 Leatherworking. At your level that is surprising. If this is your main character, how did you obtain the materials to level so fast? You couldn’t grind them and at your level without external help, and would have needed a city pedigree in trading with a limited stake to buy your way there. If I remember correctly (and I recently had my memory jogged ) you would have needed 225 skill and level 40 to get to where you are now - how did you raise your leatherwork skill by 75 in the space of one level and indeed how and why?

(2) Turalyon is an established server and has been high population for as long as I can remember. Why are you playing on a high population server when there are less crowded and more appropriate environs for the new player finding his feet in Azeroth?

Hi Leaf,

Sure thats no problem.

With regard to leatherworking, I decided I would like to be able to craft Stormshroud by the time I reached the 50's after reading an article on critical damage percentages. I forget the site but it recommended this armour over Devilsaur for Rogues, rightly or wrongly. I hear different points of view all the time.

Im not sure what a city pedigree/limited stake is, but I purchased some of the materials to max my leatherworking, rugged leather inparticular since I cannot farm it. This is also why my skinning is not yet maxed because there was no need to.

I found that thick leather began to drop by level 37 ( I believe), and of course in groups this was more frequently available. It's really not all that expensive to obtain leather, particularly buying outside the auction house. I suspect i spent somewhere in the region of 150g on leather in total, a worthwhile investment in my opinion and I should easily recoup this by selling items such as Helm of Fire, which I gather from reading, is worth quite a lot, if a little expensive to craft.

One of my gathering tactics was to follow hunters around STV whilst questing around Nessingwary, those that did not skin their kills and ran far away, I took them as unwanted and did this myself. I amassed quite a volume of leather this way.

I looked at a list of leatherworking patterns online and found those that required the least expensive materials to make, whilst still remaining yellow, Runic leather bracers being a favourite from I think it was 275-300. Indeed I have a surplus of such products if anyone desires them. I also made quite a lot of gold from selling Rugged Armour kits and the like.

Others patterns were similar, it is surprisingly inexpensive to max this skill providing you choose the correct patterns. For example, it would not be sensible to level your skill on barbaric bracers! From memory I used the Hillman range, followed by Nightscape in the mid 200's and then on to items crafted using purchased patterns such as Heavy Scorpid vest.

My skill was at 225 at level 38 if I remember correctly, so I waited until 40, obtained artisan, then levelled a little more using Heavy Scorpid gear, and then Runic.. At 41 or 42 I went to learn Elemental leatherworking from Sarah Tanner and after this maxed my skill easily using purchased rugged leather, although I have not actually made any stormshroud to date.

With regard to the choice of server, a friend from a large BF2 clan from which I am now retired (Major General) had a character here so he could play with his brother, he recommended which class and race to play, so I took his suggestion and Valgarv was born. I'll give the names of the players if asked in game but obviously I'd rather not publish them on an open forum.

Previously I had been playing on Alonsus (18, orc warrior) after a brief spell on Steamweedle Cartel with my level 9 undead warrior. The only downside I've found to Turalyon is the number of level 60's. Indeed, when I joined I was not aware things were split into realms, I just though the servers were balanced out in a similar way to IRC, to even the load so I did not give the "full" status any credence.

I hope this answers your query, feel free to ask me anything you wish, I'm always available for a chat.

Regards,

Valgarv

I did miss one of your questions out. You asked me "why" i wanted to max leatherworking.

The reason was because i was bored of grinding and questing all the time so I decided to make inroads into my professions, which is a mini-game in itself. I also did not want to be stuck at level 52 or so, without being able to wear the armour I wanted, namely Stormshroud.

In the space of a week I gained the points in leatherworking and maxed my first aid. It just gave me something new to do for a while. Variety if you like.

Regards,

Valgarv

PS. Not that it will make much difference but after watching Troy, Ong Bak, The Last Samurai, Scarface and Terminator whilst in Window mode, I am now level 43.

Thanks for that full response.

On your primary character, having 100g+ to spend on anything other than a mount at level 40-something is fairly unusual.. add in a mount cost and presumably you have spent 240g since passing level 40. That takes some doing!

We’ll get back to you on your application as soon as we can.

Hi Leaf,

I wouldnt say I've spent 250g from level 40 if you exclude enchants. I started buying small amounts of leather from about level 20 in preparation for later levels once I knew what was needed. I purchased when the price was at it's lowest to make the most of the market.

I had the gold for a mount by level 29 due to the trading I do on AH in rare patterns/schematics (Identified from various web sites). Having knowledge of economics has helped certainly, even if this is not quite the FTSE. Currently, 60-75g a day is not uncommon. I don't want to go into more detail on a public forum about how i earn income on WoW since someone external to the guild will read and no doubt copy my idea.

I await your decision :)

No matter which way it goes, thanks for considering me at such length.

Regards,

Valgarv

So you purchased some of the leather you needed to reach maximum skill before 40? Blimey. The 240g figure was accurate then, but in part predated your being able to train to 300.

I play the AH daily (go go Auctioneer mod). One of the things about trading in rare recipes / commodities is the risk to reward ratio and the length of time it takes to sell the rarer ones. That’s why I mentioned the limited stake a low level character has to invest in my earlier post. Money in WoW can indeed make money, but you need the initial stake to play the market at all.

Brownie points from me, by the way, for being a night owl.
