lol @ serenity if they think elemental shamans are not raidviable...

they obviously are --> giving mages a hard time topping :P, + giving nice buffs.

then again, out of the different raiding positions (tanks, healers dps [melee/ranged+caster]) you would fit in that of the casters, of which indeed we have quite many. maybe its wise to talk to all those casters and ask about their perspective about how much raiding time they'll have in the (near) future, because not all are as active as some others. also the same question to ionic ofc...are you more of the hardcore or regular raiding kind? in other words; do you see a future of raiding say once, twice a week...or are you more the several days in a row kind of raider?

I would typically sign up for every raid I can attend, probably 3 nights a week at a guess based on how often I have raided historically. However by signing up that doesn't neceraily mean I will be selected to go on every raid as I'm sure you operate some sort of rotation.

I know that an Elemental Shaman can do a load of damage but never seen one with decent aggro management.
This is not a problem in a 5 man but in raids this can be a problem.

Any tank can tell you that in raids it is not gaining threat that is the problem, but surviving the damage. Warriors and druids are even unable to spend all the rage they have. As for paladin tank, the only thing they deffinately don't lack is threat generation. So (in raid situation) that won't be a problem ;)

Already capped on hit and crit is barely any use for Spriests

nice theorie but I have seen mutliple over aggro on bosses including mages over aggro on gruul. and they have decent aggro management.

Not entirely

- Not everyone uses them
- They are not always reliable
- People who have them don't always use them properly
- People who have them don't always have the latest version
- The latest version is not always the best one to have either

There will always be accidents but quite often you see the same people making the same old mistakes and dragging aggro off the tanks.
There isn't really any need for it although sometimes it cannot be helped.

Elemental Shaman -are- a good source of DPS there is no question of that. Not having a decent aggro management skill to dump aggro with immediately is a problem for Elemental Shaman though. Controlling their aggro is a more significant part of their play than for other classes, they have to be more careful about it knowing that once they grab it, thats it unless the tank can grab it back before it is too late.
So it is the sign of a good player if they do it consistently well.

You cannot say "it is a question of surviving the dmg" with much credibility in 25 man raids.
The trash will one shot you never mind the bosses and because the margins are so tight most of the time the loss of -anyone- often results in a wipe.
