Angaráto/Pollux Applying for a Non-Raiding Spot in AGPG

Postby Pollux » Thu Sep 27, 2007 2:08 pm

Dear AGPG,

In the following you will find my appliction to your guild. i hope to hear from you soon! :)

Angaráto/Pollux

Main character name:
Angaráto (might change to Pollux, warlock)

Character class:
Hunter

Character race:
Night-Elf

Character level:
70

Character spec:
45/16/0 (Beast Mastery)

Character tradeskill professions and levels:
Leatherworking 140/150 (not very impressive, I know ;)) and Skinning 323/375 (also not very impressive, although a little more impressive than my leatherworking skill)

Character heroic keys and attunements:
I don’t have any of the heroic keys yet, as I haven’t been doing the level 70 group instances quite yet…Especially because I’m more focusing on my Warlock alt atm…more about him following below!
Nor am I attuned for Karazhan yet. Raiding is in general something I don’t think would be my kind of thing because I have a busy RL sports program every week. It is not that I wouldn’t like raiding, cause I am sure I would, its just that I don’t have the time for it…besides I am aware of the fact that I would need quite some work before being ‘raid-ready’, as I’ve seen characters that go along with Merlins to your Karazhan and 25-man raids.

High level non trainable spells/abilities learned:
Don’t think there are any for Hunters at the moment? Anyway, I did not have any of the non-trainables from the AQ20-content, as I only dinged 60 after the release of TBC. More so, I’ve never been a raider, and apart from maybe an exception in the future, I’ll never will be one due to the sportthingy I told about.

Total /played time: 15ish days total…I leveled quite fast in ‘days played’ as I was rested most of the time.

/played time at level 70: 3 days I think. (cant check because im not at my place and able to log on  (if only I was ;))

Notable factions and their level:

Like the heroic key thingy really, there are not factions that I have seriously worked on. My reputations vary usually from neutral to (deep into) honored. This also has a lot to do with the fact that I am focusing on leveling my alt.

Previous guild(s): I have been in DutchandDivine and after that in Dutchepic. Currently I am in a guild called Prime Guard, which is also a Dutch guild.

Name, class and level of Alternate character(s):
My only alternate character is Pollux (hence the name of the forum-user), he is currently level 43…but this is changing rather rapidly! His tradeskill professions are tailoring (150ish) and skinning (90ish). This is the character that currently has my full focus. I really enjoy the warlock-class. Merlins told me about how strong Warlocks can be, so he got me all enthused…and I must say that so far it’s true! I specced him (Pollux) affliction so far. I enjoy playing that alt more so, because Merlins has a warlock alt also, like mine around the 43-ish level. Questing together is something I really enjoy. Merlins and I do these ‘marathons’ from time to time, on which we play WoW for quite some hours in a row (usually have lunch together in between ) As for now I am really interested in getting Pollux to level 70. I do however not plan to do raidinstaces with him.

Reasons why you would like to join:
As I stated in the above, I very much enjoy questing (if not with Merlins, alone is what I enjoy also). Especially having leveled a Hunter and now a lock, I know that leveling classes with pets, does not require you to keep an eye on your target at all times. This gives me time to keep an eye on guildchat also. Currently I am in the guild called Prime Guard. This guild has never treated me in an unwanted way, yet I feel like I am not really on ‘a same RL level’ as they are. Not saying that I feel superior to them…its just that it’s a guild with a lot of young people in it. I am looking for a guild with nice conversations in gchat to add that ‘social aspect’ to playing world of warcraft.
Merlins always gave me the feeling that AGPG suited me more than my previous guilds. He told me, that you have a policy that is open to friends of guildies, and often grant them entrance on a non-raiding basis, which is exactly what I am applying for.

Were all of the above characters leveled by you from the start?:
Apart from the fact that Merlins helped me a couple of times, yes…both characters (Angaráto and Pollux) were leveled by me personally.

Your real age:
I am from 1985 which makes me 22.

although i am in no position to influence the application..

i would say that on the basis of the application, being one of a existing friend of someone in the guild asking to join, this is a rather well written and informative post.

goodluck on your application. and if you see a hunter around level 41ish named iluvpie giving you a wave.. dont get scared ^^

Hi Pollux,

I've forwarded this to the officers for consideration, we'll be in touch soonish.

One question: you realise that raiding isn't really in the picture due to your gear (sidestepping the time issue here for a sec). That's ok, but you are aware of the fact that if you dont have heroic keys that means you'll usually play with alts rather than mains, and that most 5 man content we do at the moment is heroic? Again, this is no problem at all - we have very casual members too - but you have to know what to expect.

ANyway, Goodluck ;)

To Hayek:

I am very aware of the fact that the average AGPG character is (far) beyond my level. ‘Having to play’ with alts instead of mains is nothing I am worried about, as it are the players themselves rather than the character that are of importance to me.
It is the overall maturity of players in AGPG that appeals to me (based on what I hear from Merlins in comparison to what I am experiencing in my current guild).
There are probably more guilds with mature players, it is just the fact that you have the open policy towards the more casual players that are friends of guildies ànd the fact that Merlins himself is in AGPG too, which made me turn to you guys.

I think we need more casual players - I feel lonely out there :)

I wish you good luck with your application.

You're absolutely right ;)

Again, the question was meant to prevent false perceptions, nothing more.

one thing i would like to add about this application and the basis of "what would pollux do"

i have noticed (as in last night) that there are more and more guildies currently leveling alts.. this means that the frequency of "lesser" instances is coming more and more frequent as people are attuning there alts to kara etc..

having "another" player that is able to attend these runs will certainly not harm, and as pollux has indicated himself, he is under no illusion that he is not on par with the current instances we are running at frequently at the moment in terms of gear nor experience in raids (i asume the later due to stating you dinged 60 just prior to tbc))

also consider the position of PvP in relation to arena and BG's.. these can be open up to "anyone" with even the slightest amount of play time, something which i know the more causual guildies relish as they are able to somewhat "keep up" in terms of gear although there play times are vastly inferior to other members.

lastly, with the annoucement of WotlK and it's impending coming within a intedermined timescale. Then bringing together people that are close in reguards to playing times, freindships etc.. is a wise move. it brings in a closer sense of guild comunity (something i would say that we are good at in the 1st place) but also shows the general server comunity that we are not exclusive in raiding, and that friendship within the guild comes very very close to the top of our priorities. something which set's us apart from other guilds, and makes AGPG special.

but hey.. you already new all this already.. just stating the obvious again methinks ^^

I have to agree with Roopa regarding alts and normal mode instances. I think there are quite a few of us who have alts (or even mains) who still aren't revered with all the possible factions and find normal mode instances a good source of rep. There will certainly be the opportunity for normal mode 5 man runs.

Good luck with your application!

Very nice application.

I should probably be called Mr Alt tbh and what Elorith & Rooppa said is totally true. There seems to be plenty of alts available across the level range :D

Good luck

Hi Pollux

Please, contact an officer ( Conchobar, Dwiezel, Grominx, Leaf or Meton) or myself ingame.
