Ionic - Shaman

Postby ionic » Wed Aug 15, 2007 8:22 pm

Main Character name: Ionic

Character class: Shaman

Character Race: Draenei

Character Level: 70

Character spec: Elemental 41/0/20 http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=GE0zy0MsAotZx0ek0x is my current spec and is in my opinion an optimal raid spec.

Character tradeskills professions and levels: 375 Dragon scale Leatherworking, 375 skinning.

I hold two non-trainer learned epic patterns, one to make the BoE http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29508 Living dragon scale helm. The other to make the BoP http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30043 Hurricane boots.

I am working towards the Hurricane Boots at the moment. I have all the materials with the exception of the 1 nether.

Character heroic keys and attunements: I am attuned to Karazhan. I have all the heroic keys.

High level non trainable spells/abilities learned: Not applicable.

Total /played time: On this character: 20 days across all my characters : 173 days

/played time at level 70: On this character: 10 days across all my level 70’s: 23 days

Notable factions and their level: Revered or higher with all instance linked factions. Exalted with Scryers, Honoured with violet eye.

Armory link URL: http://armory.wow-europe.com/character- ... on&n=Ionic this is my DPS gear.

My healing gear is best summarised as follows. It gives just under 1100+ heal, it is not fully enchanted yet. It gives +262 mp/5 outside the 5s rule and while casting delivers 163 mp/5 with a unbuffed mana pool of 8153

Previous Guild (s): The Dudes of Destruction

Name, class and level of Alternate character(s):
Level 70’s:
Looksnorri, Warrior
Pixy, Mage
Braxx, Hunter (horde)

Below 70
Jeremian, 66 Priest
Siriusblack, 55 Warlock (horde)
Gwyndaff, 55 Druid
Golfimbul, 53 Shaman (horde)
Sanguinis, 52 Paladin
Ghazghkull, 49 Rogue (horde)

Reasons why you would like to join: I would like the opportunity to see more end-game content, raided professionally and consistently. I want to see and enjoy more heroic instances.

Were all of the above characters levelled by you from the start: Yes

Your real age: 27

Extra info. I’m a married mature player who enjoys time in game very much. You have some previous guild mates and good friends of mine in AGPG (Elorith/Remedy/Alneis) who hopefully can vouch for my character and abilities.I know I have a lot of alt characters but it’s fair to say that these have given me an incredible insight into the abilities and assorted classes. My shaman is my main character.

Hey Ionic,

It will be discussed by the officers and classleaders.
We will let you know what we decide.

Yay! Another ex-Dude! Good to see you apply, mate.

I've raided/instanced just about everywhere from Zul'Farrak to Blackwing Lair and everything in between with Ionic (or, more specifically, his warrior, Looksnorri). He's a great, down to earth guy with a true passion for World of Warcraft. His knowledge of the game (mostly due to the army of lvl 70 alts he seems determinded to breed :p) is extensive and I've found him to be one of the most considerate players I've ever had the pleasure of playing WoW with. Stunning in-game awareness and understanding of class strong points and limitations.

I think Looks/Ionic would be a fine addition to our ranks!

Great to hear from you, Looks. Wish you the best of luck with your application, mate! See you around Tura regardless of it's outcome :)

I was wondering somthing else about guilds. I've noticed you have an application standing with another guild and also felt some questions need answered. I'm not an Officer btw.

Has your Shaman got max concentration on the end game content compared to some of the alts mentioned?
What would become of this application should you be accepted to that guild?
Are there more than two guilds applied to at the moment?

Martz.

At last, took some time to convince you to apply here :) J/k, nice to see you decided to apply after all :)

As Elo mentioned, Looks (I'll always remember Ionic as a short legged MT named Looksnorri) has both vast knowledge of the game and it's mechanics as well as determination. But above all, he's a great friend to have. Someone for whom I definatelly can vouch :) (bah! not vouching for him would be a crime!)

As for your questions Martz, I belive you are mentioning Ionic's application to Serenity? If so, know that it has been declined, a (in my eyes) mistake greater then not updating forum site with it.

As for 'shaman's max concentration:

Ionic wrote:My shaman is my main character.

That answers the question already, doesn't it? Ionic is the character of greatest attention, but it doesn't mean he will not dust off an alt should it be needed/possible to come when it not only won't interfere with 'mains' slots but also help the group itself.

Ionic,

You have impeccable references from some of our stalwarts, an impressive turn of phrase, and are a member of a class we don’t have enough of. You also have an (impressive!) outstanding application with Serenity here:-

http://serenityguild.eu/forum/viewtopic ... 78&start=0

Their template is no larger than ours, and yet your application to them is three times as long, and accordingly more informative, entertaining and impressive than the application to AGPG - and it is informative, entertaining and impressive; I especially like the personal information that put what you said in context. We’re a literate, cultured, garrulous bunch here too, with a few glorious, prominent and well loved exceptions. Why the apparent difference in approach?

You appear to be doing / on the verge of doing heroic runs with Serenity (with a mutual view to prospective trial status I assume). What is the status of you application with them? Are you holding out for a reply from them?

I suspect they are a little more raid obsessed than we are (though we have an extremely dedicated team of raiders here) and that we are larger and more welcoming. If their apparent approach is more appealing it would be useful to know now. I’m biased but I think we’re better of course! Our forums here are largely closed to non-members - if you’d like me to open up your guest account to take a peek at what you are missing then let me know - it might help you make an informed choice to read some of the 17,000 posts on this forum, whilst we are making ours.

Edit: Just read what is said about the Serenity application above. I'm surprised it was refused in the light of what I read of your application. What happened?

Leafy here does most of the chatting, and tbh, posting on the forums. Oh and blabber on TS, although Krollin is a strong competitor there...
I'll have to agree with the above, aren't we worth the effort? :'(
One thing missing out on this application is also your opinion on changing spec for the guilds/raids best, as I take it you are applying for a raiding spot. We are rather crowded with mages, heck we even got our feathery chicken out when it needs be!
I wish you luck with your application(s)

My appplication to Serenity was declined on Tuesday by PM. I would only apply to a single guild at a time, hence waiting to apply and thus no other guilds have been applied to.

My Shaman is the character I wish to develop end game. Should there be some burning need to utilise an alt on occasion I would not object.

It would be great if you could open up my access a little please.

My application was declined on two grounds. Firstly Serenity are not convinced that the Elemental Shaman is a viable raiding position. Secondly, my gear is behind that of their members.

As for the difference between the applications. One of my biggest hates as someone who has dealt with recruitment before are copy/paste applications and having rabbited on so much on the Serenity app it left me very little new non-duplicated information to post and I wanted to stay true to your application template. Apologies for that.

Once again, apologies for not going into masses of detail on the app, my reason for that I think I mentioned in the post above. I could look to the fact that I was recovering when posting it from having all my wisdom teeth pulled out yesterday morning and was perhaps not in the most "normal" of frames of mind

My opinion on changing spec is like this really. At heart I am an Elemental Shaman. I have tried resto on ionic and truth be told, didn't like it. My horde shaman is enhancement and that is quite fun but I don't enjoy it as much as elemental. After all the time and effort put into my gear it would be a huge shame to respec to something different, so in short it's fair to say I do not want to respec. Also, I do not know whether you have seen the damage a good Elemental Shaman can kick out, but I think you would be suprised (ask Elorith), Now i have never seen your mages in action, but I have out dps'ed every mage I have grouped with bar 1 in direct damage fights. AoE being the only thing that could potentially put them ahead

I can only judge by a recent UB heroic run in which Ionic and I ran SWstats. According to that data I can certainly attest to the spec having a very healthy damage output. I like to think I can hold my own in the DPS stakes and, by the end of that run, Ionic and I were almost level pegging.
